Job Description:
About the role
You will ensure that the individuals agreed personal plans are met, in a manner that suits them, and that their support is organized in such a way that it enhances the person’s life and community involvement in the Taranaki area. You will report directly to the Services Coordinator, Kieran Windsor.
The job requires you to work 25-40 hours per week. This is a 12-months fixed term contract (maternity cover).
Duties of the role
- To develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with the Individual(s) receiving support, taking account of that person’s culture, spirituality and other preferences.
- To check with the person that the support being offered is meeting that person’s expectation and enhancing their life as measured by the Mana Waiora domains
- To use support skills and techniques that demonstrate our values.
- To assist the service coordinator and the individual to develop and review support plans.
- To support the individual to identify personal goals, interests and needs and contribute these in the planning process.
- To develop and maintain positive relationships with others including family and whanau who have a key role in the individuals life.
- To assist the individuals with any complaints that they may have.
- To positively work through any issues with the individuals that may arise from any incidents.
- To strengthen and develop the individuals networks including supporting naturally occurring networks that link a person to their community.
- To promote an environment that encourages the individual to feel safe and comfortable.
Skills and experience
- It is essential that you are fully vaccinated (mandated)
- Preferably a Level 4 qualification in Health and Wellbeing or similar
- Experience in being a support worker / team leader
- Experience in working with challenging behaviors
- Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Strong record keeping and analytical skills
- Strong problem solving abilities
team-management and leadership skills - Computer literate (Flowlogic, google doc, emails etc.)
- Monday-Friday, availability in weekends as required would be beneficial
