Job Description:
Support Worker – Palmerston North,
Part-Time, 24 per fortnight, which will include days, evenings, and weekends. There is a possibility that these hours will increase.
About the role
We are seeking a team player who will be working in self-managing teams. Within these teams you will be empowered through well-being in a dynamic team, where you can grow and utilise the strengths you bring to the team.
We are preferably looking for a female support worker who is experiences, enthusiastic, and creative to fill this part-time role.
The successful candidate will be observant and can adapt to the way they interact with others, and be adaptable to change. They must have a sense of humour and positive outlook. Being reliable, resilient and able to help others to thrive and flourish by being a Mana enhancing mentor.
Duties of the role
- Support the individual to achieve their personal plans
- Strengthen and develop the individual’s networks in the community
- Engage with the individual to check that the support being offered is meeting expectations and enhancing their life
- Maintain the quality of the support we provide
- Support the individual with personal hygiene and wellbeing
- Promote an environment that encourages the individual to feel safe and comfortable
- Encourage the individual to grow and increase their independence by supporting them to learn skills for daily living and to make decisions and choices
- Generate daily support notes, incident reports, daily handover notes to your co-workers and any other administration tasks that might be required
- Collaborate with other support staff by attending staff meetings, coaching, keeping each other informed about the individual being supported and sharing ideas with your team members
- Engage in discussions with your team on the team plan, projects to be completed, administration tasks, rostering and training and development
Skills and experience
- Fully vaccinated would be preferred
- Qualification in Health and Wellbeing or similar OR two years’ experience desirable.
- Computer literacy
- A team player that actively participates
- Valid driver’s license essential
- Someone with good communication skills
- Great time management skills
- Someone with good sense of humor and a team player
- Someone who is willing to work weekends and evening
- Being upbeat, cheerful and an optimistic community networker.
