About the role

You will support a 16 year old non-verbal boy living with fragile X, Autism and intellectual disability. He attends School 5 days a week and requires support around school hours with transitioning from living at home with his mum to living in his own home within the community.  You will report to the Service Coordinator, Rosalie Mettam and have interaction with the family about the support being provided.

The job requires you to work full time: 40 hours per week & part time: 25 hours per week

 

 Duties of the role

  • Support the individual to achieve their personal plans.
  • Strengthen and develop the individuals networks in the community.
  • Engage with the individual to check that the support being offered is meeting expectations and enhancing their life.
  • Support the individual with personal hygiene and wellbeing.
  • Promote an environment that encourages the individual to feel safe and comfortable.
  • Encourage the individual to grow and increase their independence by supporting them to learn skills for daily living and to make decisions and choices.
  • Generate daily support notes, incident reports and daily handover notes to your co-workers.
  • Collaborate with other support staff by attending staff meetings, coaching, keeping each other informed about the individual being supported and sharing ideas with your team members.

 

Skills and experience

  • Fully vaccinated would be preferred
  • Qualification in Health and Wellbeing L3 or L4 preferred but not essential
  • Computer literacy
  • MUST have driver license
  • Valid first aid certificate
  • Effective communication through voice, body language and facials
  • Experience with Autism, Intellectual disability or early childhood
  • Experience with personal cares & manual handling
  • Someone who would love to enjoy waterplays, sensory toys and going for drives
  • Someone who is willing to work sleepovers and weekends
